The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) is a tactical team that responds to explosives incidents including found explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED), and post blast investigations. The Unit also conducts first responder explosives recognition training.
The Calaveras County Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit is currently staffed with three (3) hazardous devices/bomb technicians. All three (3) bomb technicians are also hazardous materials specialists and function on the Hazardous Materials Team. Staff training and certification is provided through FBI Hazardous Devices School, U.S. Army, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.
